"The protagonist is a young boy named Ico who was born with horns, which his village considers a bad omen. Warriors lock him away in an abandoned fortress. During his explorations of the fortress, Ico encounters Yorda, the daughter of the castle's Queen. The Queen plans to use Yorda's body to extend her own lifespan. Learning this, Ico seeks to escape the castle with Yorda, keeping her safe from the shadow-like creatures that attempt to draw her back. Throughout the game, the player controls Ico as he explores the castle, solves puzzles and assists Yorda across obstacles."I haven't finished this game yet but so far the ambient, the atmosphere, the sounds and the mystery has me completely captivated by it. I must say that the puzzles are complicated because I can't tell what is useable, which is pretty amazing the level of blending it all has. I wonder if anyone else is playing, played or finished this game? I'm very curious about Yorda and the evil witch, whatever she is, and of course...Ico! He's such a cute kid, I feel sorry for him being stuck in that huge castle

I wish I had this game in my backlog, but it's just on my wish-list. And hard to get too. But if anyone around here is play it, I'd love to lurk around and see what you have to say about it.
Don't spoil too much though, or I'll get sad. Lol. But seriously, don't spoil too much. This is the game discussion forum, not game spoil-away forum.

No spoiling it. By the way...why don't you buy the Ps3 version? It's much more available, and it shares Shadow of Colossus, and you know...all you need is a Ps3 I love the way Ico uses background noises like animals, grass, the wind, the ripples of water and so on as soundtrack - it's so masterfully done *_*

Oh, there's a PS3 version too? I know a PS2 bundle was released and that is kind of what I've been looking for, since getting both ICO and Shadow of Colossus would be great. But now I have another reason to get myself a PS3, I guess.
I didn't know that about the soundtrack. Now my interest bar went from "I really want to own the series and try it out" to "Why don't I own them games already?!".

Yes, there's a bundle with Shadow and Ico for the PS3. It's the HD version and it's even more astounding to see it in such high quality. Specially the castle and the diverse ambience, it's marvellous really.
I'm glad your interested got peeked, Shadow also is like that. Ico is one of those games that just exploration will make you amazed and...I have no words to describe just how cute it is to hold hands and care for Yorda, fff~<3!

Sounds real good. Real cool. I hate watching trailers or game play (they somehow ruins all games for me, except the openings/trailers for visual novels doesn't) or otherwise I'd run off to watch some on YouTube right away.
A few years back I would actually have had the possibility to buy ICO. It was back when I pretty much only knew Crash Bandicoot, Final Fantasy, Suikoden and Tekken for Playstation consoles. But because I had never heard of the game and it didn't look very interested name-wise nor cover-wise I simply left the game store, happy to have almost literally drooled on the PS versions of Final Fantasy. If I back then just would had known... The point is, for a game that really sound interesting, I'm sad the cover and name isn't all that interesting. A poor teenager who only can borrow her younger brother's PS2 couldn't care less about such a boring-looking game.

But...the cover of Ico European is simply beautiful and awesome! The American version has an hideous cover and European is simply...a beauty. How can you say it's not interesting when it's a piece of art in itself? D:

Haha! You're misunderstanding me. I'm saying that the game seems boring based on the artwork, not that the art isn't well-done. I like it, but for a game I don't particularly get interested in the game I'm afraid. And the covers are what I first look at. If the cover or name catches my attention I look at the back of the game. If I find it interesting at first look, I look a bit closer. If it still has me there, it usually is on my impulse buy list, or on to buy list. ICO just don't get my attention like that with the artwork. Not because I don't like it, but because however I look at the European art, I just can't go "This looks interesting". In a game store I won't even really give it much of a look. Give me bright colours and cute girls and sexy men and my attention is yours though.
